[uClinux-dev] open("/dev/console"...

Hi, can anyone explain what happens when 

open("/dev/console".....  executed. 

When this line runs I'm getting a lot of junk chars continuously 
put on my console (minicom). What should I check in console.c.

Appreciate any help.
