[uClinux-dev] GDB-BDM-20010901 for 5272

Hi,

Newbie question again.

I have an M5272C3 eval board from Motorola and a P&E's Coldfire BDM
Interface. I have the uClinux and CoLILO built. Now, I'm trying to get my
connection to the board working ... stress "trying!"

I'm trying to get Chris Johns' GDB-BDM-20010901 installed and working on my
RedHat Linux 7.2 system. I realized that he developed the drivers for
GDB-5.0. So, I've downloaded the gdb-5.0 and the gdb is all ready for STEP
4.

I started to follow Chris' instructions in his README file.

Believe-it-or-not, I'm stuck on STEP 1. :-(

I get the following error ... it seems no matter what I do ... I get the
following output ...

cc -Wall -g -O -pipe -DMODULE -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/include -I.. -DMODVERSIONS
 -include /usr/include/linux/modversions.h -c -o linux-bdm.o linux-bdm.c
/usr/include/local/modversions.h:1:2: #error Modules should never use
kernel-headers system headers,
/usr/include/local/modversions.h:2:2: #error but rather headers from an
appropriate kernel-source package.
/usr/include/local/modversions.h:3:2: #error Change -I/usr/src/linux/include
(or similar) to
/usr/include/local/modversions.h:4:2:
#error -I/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build/include
/usr/include/local/modversions.h:5:2: #error to build against the
currently-running kernel.
In file included from linux-bdm.c: 60:
/usr/include/local/modversions.h:1:2: #error Modules should never use
kernel-headers system headers,
/usr/include/local/modversions.h:2:2: #error but rather headers from an
appropriate kernel-source package.
/usr/include/local/modversions.h:3:2: #error Change -I/usr/src/linux/include

/usr/include/local/modversions.h:5:2: #error to build against the
currently-running kernel.
make: *** [linux-bdm.o] Error 1

This must be a "Stupid-Monday" for me. I know I'm not this stupid! ...
Could someone please tell me that this MAKE file doesn't work on Mondays?
That would be the "nice" answer! ...

Any suggestions?

In addition, I'm heading towards a REAL time constraint in getting this
M5272C3 board operational. Does anyone have a list of modifications that I
need to do to "files" for getting the GDB-BDM working with an M5272C3?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Greg
